Prompt Volumes

Estimate how often your target queries are being asked inside AI engines — before you decide what to track.

Overview

Prompt Volumes helps you prioritise which prompts are worth tracking by estimating their query volume inside AI engines. Unlike traditional keyword tools that report Google Search traffic, Prompt Volumes models how frequently a question is asked in conversational AI products (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overviews).

The feature is organised into two main tabs: Topic Explorer and Trends.

Topic Explorer

The Topic Explorer is the main interface for volume estimation. Enter a topic, brand name, or question to see an AI-powered volume estimate.

Single query — enter one prompt and click Estimate Volume. Citatra returns:

  • Estimated monthly volume — an absolute estimate of how many times this question is asked per month across AI engines
  • Confidence — a badge (High / Medium / Low) indicating how reliable the estimate is for that query type
  • Trending indicator — whether volume for this query type is growing, stable, or declining
  • Related queries — a set of semantically similar questions with their own volume estimates

Batch estimation — paste multiple prompts (one per line) or upload a CSV to estimate volumes for a large set simultaneously. Results are presented in a sortable table.

Exporting Results

Click Export to download the current Topic Explorer results as CSV or JSON. Exports include the query text, estimated volume, confidence level, and trending status.

The Trends tab shows how estimated query volumes change over time for your tracked prompts. Use this to:

  • Spot seasonal surges in AI-query demand for your topics
  • Understand if a topic is gaining or losing conversational relevance
  • Time content publication to coincide with rising interest

The chart plots volume estimates over a configurable date range. Hover any data point for the exact estimate. You can overlay multiple queries on the same chart to compare trends side by side.

Brand Tracking Tab

The Brand Tracking tab is focused on branded query analysis. Enter your brand name (and any common variations) to see:

  • How often your brand is mentioned in AI queries
  • Which questions about your brand are most frequently asked
  • Sentiment context for brand-related queries

ℹ️ Info

Volume estimates are AI-modelled approximations, not exact counts. Treat them as relative signals for prioritisation rather than absolute traffic forecasts.

Alerts

Set a volume threshold on any tracked query to receive an alert when its estimated volume crosses that threshold. Alerts are delivered to the in-app notification centre and (optionally) by email. This is useful for catching rapidly rising topics before competitors do.

💡 Tip

Use batch estimation to score a large list of candidate prompts before importing them. Sort by estimated volume to identify your highest-priority tracking candidates.
